Industry Sales Leader Patty Mendez Joins Rising Medical Solutions, Focuses on Utilization Review Services

Chicago, IL – July 23, 2018 – Longtime workers’ compensation executive Patty Mendez has joined Rising Medical Solutions’ customer experience practice as Regional Vice President of Business Development. In this role, Patty will direct national markets with an emphasis on Mountain and West Coast opportunities. Patty brings more than 25 years of industry experience to her new position, with a career arc starting as an insurance claims professional and leading into strong, consultative sales roles with national managed care firms.

Most recently, Patty served as Optum’s Senior Vice President of National Sales, specializing in pharmacy and ancillary cost containment programs. Other prior employers include MSC Care Group (now One Call Medical), Presidium, and Eagle Insurance Group.

“Patty’s industry knowledge, coupled with her solid claims background and acute understanding of California’s workers’ compensation environment, make her the ideal choice to lead our market development efforts in the western U.S.,” said Timothy Howlin, Rising’s Chief Sales Officer.

In addition to Rising’s flagship medical bill review product suite, Patty will focus on the company’s utilization review (UR) services. Her focus becomes particularly critical as recent California law now requires all UR organizations to be URAC accredited. While Rising has been accredited since 2008, currently, a full 40 percent of UR service providers are non-compliant with the new mandate.

“A huge part of my job is helping my customers stay in compliance, as well as helping them innovate,” says Mendez. “I’m excited to join such a customer-centric firm that understands incremental and transformative value can only be delivered from a strong regulatory base.”
